Welcome to May with Love as Equity
May 2025
Dear Friends in Faith,
Where in your life is love asking you to give something up so that someone else might fully flourish?
As May unfolds around us—with longer days, warmer light, and renewed growth—we find ourselves invited into deeper reflection on this month’s theme: Love as Equity. In a world where injustice still takes root in the shadows of indifference, our faith calls us to a more expansive understanding of love—one that is active, courageous, and rooted in equity.
May’s Theme
Our journey through a year of celebrating “Love As Our Center” invites us to explore love as equity—a love that refuses to be satisfied with comfort or privilege if it comes at another’s expense. This love compels us to examine the imbalances in our lives, communities, and systems, not with guilt, but with a deep yearning for restoration and fairness. Equity is not sameness—it is compassion in action, meeting people where they are and offering what is needed to thrive. What does it mean to structure our lives and our communities so that everyone has enough, and everyone belongs? This month, we reflect on how love calls us into the holy and hard work of redistributing power, listening deeply, and embodying justice not only in word, but in deed.
Equity is love in action. It is the practice of recognizing each person’s inherent worth and dignity, not only in word but in the systems we build, the communities we nurture, and the justice we pursue. At Bridges, we believe that equity isn’t a destination—it’s a daily commitment. And this month, we are thrilled to offer new ways for you to deepen that commitment with us.
As we journey together through this month, let us remember that equity is not about giving everyone the same—it’s about ensuring everyone has what they need to thrive. That, too, is love. A radical, responsive, resilient love.
Partnering Together: A Call to Shared Ministry
We continue to invite congregations across the country to become BridgesUU Community Partner — committed collaborators in a shared vision of liberation, equity, and collective care.
As a partner, your congregation will:
- Gain access to exclusive resources designed to deepen your justice work and spiritual life.
- Receive priority registration and discounts for workshops, leadership training, and retreats.
- Be connected with peer congregations to share wisdom, challenges, and mutual support.
- Participate in a quarterly Partners in Ministry Gathering—a space for dreaming, planning, and building together.
Thank you for the ways you show up for justice, for each other, and for the world we are building. We are so grateful to be in partnership with you.
This is not a transactional relationship—it is a shared ministry, rooted in mutual support and the belief that we are stronger together. Whether you are a small fellowship in a rural community or a large urban metropolitan, there is a place for you in this web of love and action.
To become a partner congregation, visit our website or reach out directly to our team. We’d love to learn about your congregation’s vision, needs, and the ways we can enter into ministry together.
Sincerely,
AJ
