Radiant Spirituality and Inner Brightness

Monthly Theme: Divine Light
Dear Fellow UUs,
As we enter the depths of December, our theme of “Divine Light” calls us to create moments of musical illumination during this darkest time of year. In this season where many traditions celebrate light piercing darkness, our music can help lift spirits and kindle hope within our communities.
I’m excited to share some musical selections that embody this theme of radiant spirituality and inner brightness:
Suggested Pieces:
– “This Little Light of Mine” – A beloved favorite that directly speaks to sharing our inner divine spark
– “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” by Dolly Parton – A gorgeous anthem about emergence from darkness
– “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles – A secular celebration of light’s return
– “Walk in the Light” – Traditional spiritual emphasizing guidance through darkness
For meditative moments:
– “The Light” by Philip Glass – Instrumental piece evoking dawning awareness
– “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre – Ethereal choral work about golden light
– “Morning Has Broken” – Traditional hymn celebrating daily renewal
Consider incorporating candlelight in your homes and personal spaces. The visual symbolism can powerfully enhance the musical message. Remember that many in our communities struggle with seasonal darkness and music can serve as a vital source of comfort and connection during this time.
In harmony and light,
