New Hymns for a New Season

Oct 2025

Greetings Everyone,

Our theme for October is Faith. Like last month’s theme, Covenant, we often treat these words with casual familiarity. What exactly is Faith and how does it manifest for you? The hymn I’ve written explores faith in different ways. Is faith as dependable and regular as the Sun and the Moon? What about our relationships and personal connections? Faith evolves and it also ebbs and flows. I hope you enjoy this new hymn, “Faith is the Sun Ever Rising.”

Other music and hymns recommended for October:

Hymn 1014, Answering the Call of Love and Hymn 1000, Morning Has Come

These 2 hymns are both by Jason Shelton. Jason has contributed much music to our UU faith and these two hymns touch on faith as love and faith as living every day.

Hymn 368, Now Let Us Sing

“Sing to the power of Faith within” – need I say more?

Hymn 193 Our Faith is but a Single Gem

Faith is also how we reference a system of beliefs, like Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, etc. Hymn 193 talks about how UUism is one of the many “beads” on the rosary of faiths.

Hymn 396 I Know This Rose Will Open

“I Know” is a statement of faith. I love this short but beautiful round, a meditation on faith.

In harmony,
